MiDCOM and Celtel unveil promo

MiDCOM rewards customers through promotions
Often times, it is not just how much we are willing to give. It is how much love we put into giving. As it closes in on one year, MiDCOM has invested much of its energies and money into promotions, satisfied customers will always testify.

Akash Kumar the General Manager, MiDCOM says that besides the price penetration strategy, which has seen them sell original Nokia phones at unbelievably low prices, they have also indulged in massive promotions with different stake holders, something that has seen them give back to their customers.

In what will pass for a milestone in the company’s existence, MiDCOM and Celtel on Thursday, November 2, launched a sh100m promotion at Hotel Africana in Kampala. The promotion will reward their customers during the festive season.

Kumar says the two-month campaign will run under the theme ‘Embrace this season. Embrace the spirit of East Africa.’ He says that during the promotion Nokia 1110 would cost sh89, 900, Nokia 2310 goes for sh159, 900, and Nokia 1600 would cost sh127, 000.

Cesear Mloka, Celtel’s Marketing Director says: “The mechanics are simply buying fully connected Nokia phones, Celtel sim packs or top up as little as sh1, 000 at our nearest Celtel shops or selected MiDCOM priority dealers country wide.”

“This makes customers eligible entrants to the weekly draws, where customers would stand chances of winning weekly prizes such as T-shirts, airtime and fully connected Nokia Phones.” says Mloka. She says the more customers buy or top up airtime on their phones, they stand a chance of winning a dream East African holiday or sh50million Grand prize.

Kumar says the Celtel and MiDCOM weekly draws are to be held in selected locations countrywide for eight weeks starting on November 10 and the grand draw would be conducted on January 5, next year. Kumar further expresses MiDCOM’s pride at being associated with the leading East African Telecommunications Network.

On her part Mloka notes, “We are very happy to partner with MiDCOM in this Promotion because we want to reward our customers as well as we celebrate this festive season with original products.”

MiDCOM has also sponsored a Nokia- MiDCOM beauty queen contest due Saturday, November 11 at the lower gardens of Hotel International Muyenga, near Kampala. Over 20 participants are competing for the Miss Nokia-MiDCOM. She will be the face of the company.

Richard Ssebaduka the beauty pageant manager says the Nokia-MiDCOM has greatly supported them in a pageant where the winner will walk away with sh10m, worth of a land title.

He says, besides offering all the contestants with original mobile phones, Nokia MiDCOM has sponsored a corporate dinner for co-sponsors, pageants and invited guests.

Many more individuals have since won with MiDCOM over time. For instance, Godfrey Kibunga a businessman from excel Auto Garage in Katwe was the lucky winner of a trip for two to Dubai, courtesy of MiDCOM Limited. The trip is worth $2000 (about sh3.7m). He was among 22 winners of the MiDCOM ‘win a trip to Dubai’ one month promotion in which participants filled entry coupons on buying 1100 or 1600 Nokia phones from any MiDCOM outlets or dealers such as X-tel, Telechoice, Cellular services and Nilecom.

Adrian Lee, the Nokia senior marketing manager sub-Sahara Africa noted, “MiDCOM has taken the concept of communication to a higher level through promotions. They have stood out, up and proud and we are happy to be associated with customers.”
